If you could ask God one thing…

If you could ask God any one question what would you ask? One question, one opportunity, with one direct answer…what would you ask.

Would you question your existence, your purpose, your destiny? What significance you have?

Would you ask why he dismisses your loved ones and why it hurts so bad; why you can’t breath, why you are incapable of smiling, incapable of facing the day without constant anxiety and feelings of hopelessness and loneliness?

Would you ask why God allows us to hurt each other; why criminals can roam the streets, rape us of our dignity and values, smother and wound those we love?

Would you ask how such a loving God can look down and allow us to experience our misfortunes?

Would you ask if it’s hard for him to say no to our begging, pleading prayers when no might be the best thing for us in the end?

Would you ask the meaning of life; is life merely a long running episode, a soap opera of trials where we are judge and committed in the end?

Would you ask about the end? What destiny awaits, heaven or hell?

Would you ask why he gave us consciousness and freedom to live our lives, to be able to make our own decisions without being robots; to serve who we desire, believe what we will without force? To be able to laugh when we feel life is funny, to cry when sad, to choose our own paths?

Would you ask why God would create humanity in his own image, fully aware we would spit in his face, ridicule and mock, beat and torture, betray and forsake; would you ask God how he can forgive? Would you ask how and why he puts up with everyone one of our complaints?

If given the opportunity to talk to God, to ask one single question…maybe instead, I would say Thank You.
