Ramblings

My Favorite Films of 2009

Pleasant Surprises:
World’s greatest dad
I Love You, Man
Funny People

My Top 10

10. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
The fantasy-adventure film based on the novel of the same name  by J. K. Rowling. It is the sixth film in the Harry Potter film series.

9. The Hangover
While striking a resemblance to the 1998 Dark Comedy featuring Christian Slater “Very Bad Things”, “The Hangover” was one of the biggest laughs of the year.

8. Up
Best animated film of 2009.

7. Star Trek
A brilliant resurrection of the classic and cult TV series. I look forward to a sequel.

6. Adventureland
A surprise hit to say the least, “Adventureland” was truly one of the finest romantic comedies of 2009. I love the awkward nice guy character. Hint: two Jesse Eisenberg films make my list.

5. Inglourious Basterds
Quentin lets us laugh (dark comedy) at the nemesis of Hitler. Starring Brad Pitt and the brilliant overly polite, Jew-hunting (who loves his job way too much) Christoph Waltz.

4. (500) Days of Summer
Best romance of the year. A real-life love story that doesn’t end with a boombox featuring “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel or carrying flowers up the fire escape.

3. Zombieland
Zombies were never so much fun.  Funniest film of the year and featuring the awkward love stricken zombie fighting Jesse Eisenberg.

2. Disrict 9
I nearly turned this one off; glad I didn’t

1. Avatar
What needs to be said about this; the biggest grossing film of all-time.
