Leadership

A Better World Begins with Seeing the Best

I wanted to post this soulful song from Marvin Sapp (“The Best in Me”). During this recession many are reflecting on their obstacles, their downgraded wealth; their insecurities are being highlighted. “When everyone else around could only see the worst in me, he saw the best.” This song is a nice reminder that someone does see the best in us.

Leadership is really about recognizing and rewarding the integrity and performance of our team. It’s about unleashing their potential. It’s about making our team see the potential that they are blind to as yet (pulling down the curtains of their insecurities and denial). Sometimes in life people just need you to believe in them. Why? Because there are far too many who don’t. We don’t need another person against us. You give me 100,000 people against me, an oceans sea before me, and one person who believes in me…I just might make it. Stand against me…you’re slow me down. Stand next to me…you’re give me the courage, the strength to go on. Most importantly, I’ll never forget you. I always remember the hate, but I’ll never forget the love.

Remember: to always treat everyone as if they are hurting; the reality is, they probably are. Believe in someone. See the best. Find the beauty.
